Not much that came before matters. Nothing in the life of Svengard set him apart from his brethren. He lived a typical Aesir life. Work, hunt, drink and survive. Then came the Vanir. Svengards clan had seen the Vanir before, had crossed blades with them many times. But this time was different.
It began with a single scream cut short. A scream which no man could ever forget. Then arose a thunder and the roar of a thousand hells stampeding across frozen tundra. As he bolted from his hut, Svengard realized this wasn't one of the Vanir raiding patries with which he had become familiar. This was an army.
